Cryptocurrencies extended their losses over the past 24 hours, with the price of Bitcoin falling below 40,000 US dollars. This level has not been hit since early December.
The price of Bitcoin recouped some of the overnight losses and was down 2.4 percent at 40,070 US dollars at 7:30 CET.
